Family Promise of Greater Wichita is thrilled to welcome Theresa Alvarado to the FPGW Staff! Theresa joins the team as a Family Advocate, providing support and case management for families in the FPGW Emergency Services Program.

Theresa brings years of experience in the social services field to this position. She has most recently worked for Catholic Charities, supporting families and youth in a variety of capacities. She is excited to join the Family Promise mission in our community and to be able to walk alongside families in a holistic, sustainable way.

Theresa’s own life story seems meant to collide with the Family Promise mission. At a young age, her family relocated to Wichita and, as they got settled in their new home, they were met with support, encouragement, and community by one of FPGW’s host congregations, Tyler Road Baptist Church. Years after Theresa’s family was well settled into their new community, the people at Tyler Road continued to offer friendship and support.

Theresa is, to this day, wholeheartedly grateful for their genuine hospitality and kindness. She even credits this experience as a key factor to her devout faith, even though Tyler Road is a Protestant church and she is a faithful Catholic. She is dedicated to giving back to the community with her time and talents and the entire FPGW team is grateful she’s stepped into her current role to do just that. FPGW Executive Director, Dawn Epp, had this to say about Theresa:

Theresa is an amazing addition to our staff team.  The way that she conducts herself in a work environment beautifully aligns with our organization’s core values. I have no doubt that she will be a tremendous resource for the families we serve in our Emergency Services program.

Theresa is the proud mother of three children – ages 13,10, and 7. Her favorite place in Wichita is the Keeper of the Plains and her favorite restaurant is Los Compadres. She is a graduate of Northwest High and attended Newman University. Over the years, she has completed other vocational training to support her family and community, including becoming a licensed CNA. She loves to craft in her free time!
