Family Promise of Greater Wichita is proud to welcome Heather Petty to the Board of Directors as Treasurer.

Heather is a lifelong Wichitan who loves the awesome community that Wichita has become. As a Wichita State graduate (with two children earning their education as Shockers), she loves the excitement and diversity of the city she’s always called home.

After graduating from WSU with her accounting degree, Heather spent time working for some of Wichita’s most well-known institutions, including the Sedgwick County Zoo, before stepping away from corporate life to raise her sons full time. She took on her current role as Controller at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice eight years ago. She loves numbers, data, and information and has a heart to make a tangible difference in our community.

Heather has enjoyed being in the same book club with FPGW Executive Director, Dawn Epp, for the past 18 years. Over time, as Dawn got involved with Family Promise as a volunteer and later joined the staff team, she shared about the mission and her work at Family Promise with her Book Club friends, including Heather. When the FPGW Board of Directors was in need of a new Treasurer, Heather’s interest was piqued.

After hearing bits and pieces about FPGW for the past few years, Heather has been excited to learn more about the mission and be involved in a meaningful way. She believes that Family Promise is versatile and loves the way we are all working together to make a lasting difference in the community.

Recently, Heather had the privilege of attending a celebration for a family graduating from the FPGW rotation program. She said that this experience was impactful as a Board member and a member of the Greater Wichita community. It was inspiring to get to know and talk to guests and graduates and see the reality of the program she is joining and beginning to serve with.

“We are so excited to have Heather and her financial expertise on our board,” said Dawn Epp. “In her short time, she has already made an impact by asking great questions and offering suggestions. I have known Heather for a long time and I know that she cares deeply about this community. I am thankful that she is willing to share her time and talents with us.”

In what spare time Heather has, she enjoys spending time with her two boys. She also loves playing PickleBall, reading, spending time outside, and most recently is stepping into new territory as a member of the Wichita Choral Society.

Welcome, Heather, to the FPGW Board! The entire team is grateful for your willingness to serve and your clear heart for making a real difference in the world around you!
