The 3rd Annual Gala, Be the Light, was a huge success and raised over $65,000 for our program’s ongoing work. This is more than the event has ever raised!

The evening featured themes of light with a special song, and a hopeful and inspiring testimony from a program graduate. Stacia Thompson, Executive Director, and Katy Penner, Board PR Chair and former Interim Director, spoke about their experiences shining the light for families in a homeless crisis, as well as stories of families shining light back to them.

Council Member Jeff Blubaugh and Officer Nathan Schwiethale, the WPD’s Homeless Outreach Team Leader and Family Promise of Greater Wichita board member, ran the live auction of KU basketball tickets, Fire truck and HOT Team Ride-Alongs, and the annual Fund-A-Need campaign.

More than 40 baskets, donated primarily by Family Promise partner congregations and local businesses, sold in the silent auction. Sponsors for the evening included Pathway Church, Casado McKay, Wichita Railway Services, Carl Harris, Supply Design Solutions, Intrust Bank, Two Trees, and St. john’s Episcopal Church.

Thanks to the Events Team Chair, Jana Mullen, the Events Team, and to all of the volunteers and donors who, together, made the night full of light and keep working to spread more light in our community.
