It’s important and fun to report the GOOD and happy news in the Family Promise program. Lately we’ve had a lot of good things to report in this work to empower homeless families.

Happy News: Staff Reviews

Guests have been talking about the staff behind their backs. 🙂 And we are delighted.

“This program is the first place I have ever been where I feel like people like me unconditionally.”

“They only want the best for us.”

“Stacia and Dawn never get mad at us, they are only try to help us.”

“They don’t judge me, they just try to help.”

“We don’t even deserve all of this, but they always act like we do.”

Happy News: Guests Share Life & Chores

The guest families also make sure they do their parts in this sharing of life together. This is happy news too.

If you have been to the Day House lately, it’s very clean. Guests take care of the house with a rotating schedule of cleaning chores, and this provides another way to take ownership of their own lives as they work on goals.

Part of this is required for the program. But guests also go beyond just daily requirements. One pitched in last fall to rake leaves and take pride in keeping the house looking nice: “I was so sore the next day I was limping around but didn’t want anyone to notice.”

Other participants also assist volunteers with folding brochures, stuffing envelopes, or whatever is happening at the Day House.

It all works together like one giant family. As you can imagine, large families have their challenges too, but we love to celebrate the good and happy news days.
