In an inspiring turn of events, Family Promise of Greater Wichita, a local nonprofit dedicated to alleviating family homelessness, is excited to announce the achievement of a milestone for our organization. A Home for Hope

Family Promise’s journey has always been one of compassion and empowerment. For years, we have provided vital assistance to families facing the harsh reality of homelessness. From offering shelter and meals to providing job training and support services, the organization has been a lifeline of support and hope for hundreds of families.

This new, larger space serves as a major step in the Strategic Plan laid out by the Board of Directors and shows notable progress in our organization’s work to accommodate the increased reach of the recent past and future growth as well. The acquisition of a new building represents a significant step forward and our dedication to creating lasting change. This building isn’t just bricks and mortar; it’s a symbol of hope, a safe haven where families can rebuild their lives, regain their independence, and find relationships that are empowering and success that is sustainable.

Why a New Building Matters

The decision to acquire a new building didn’t come overnight. It’s the culmination of careful planning, tireless fundraising efforts, and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of the families we serve. This acquisition offers growth and opportunity in a variety of ways that are important to the Family Promise mission:

Expanded Capacity: The new building will allow Family Promise to support more families in need. The increase in capacity means more individuals can access safe shelter, resources, and guidance, propelling them towards a brighter future. This building also allows for expanded capacity for Stabilization services – giving families who have overcome housing challenges a place to return for continued relationship, skill building, and support.

Enhanced Services: With more space comes the opportunity to offer a wider range of support services. From counseling and job training to childcare and educational programs, the new building will become a hub of comprehensive assistance, tailored to the unique challenges faced by families in crisis.

Community Impact: As an organization deeply connected to its community, Family Promise’s new building will foster even stronger community partnerships. The space can be used for workshops, training sessions, and collaborative initiatives that engage local businesses, volunteers, and residents.

Dignity and Stability: Homelessness often robs families of their sense of dignity and stability. The new building will provide more than just a roof over families’ heads; it will offer a place where families can regain their self-worth and stability, setting the stage for long-term success.

The Power of Collective Effort

Acquiring a new building isn’t an endeavor that any organization undertakes alone. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration, unity, and shared purpose. This milestone for Family Promise is a result of the dedication of our staff, volunteers, donors, and partners who have all come together to make this dream a reality.

The purchase of this specific building, located at 1111 N. St. Francis, serves as a boon not only to Family Promise, but to the Wichita Family Crisis Center as well. As the previous home of the Crisis Center, which offers shelter and support for families affected by domestic violence, this space was well cared for and contains the unique amenities needed for Family Promise operations.

With this property sale between two local nonprofits that both provide crucial support to families facing crisis situations, this strategic move not only reinforces the missions of these organizations, but also sets an inspiring tone for community-driven collaboration and support among social service agencies. This new building opens doors to innovative programs, partnerships, and solutions that can drive lasting change in the lives of families. With our unwavering commitment and the support of our community, Family Promise is poised to continue transforming despair into hope and uncertainty into promise.

The acquisition of this new building by Family Promise is a poignant reminder that every step taken to combat family homelessness is a step towards a better world. As we celebrate this achievement, let it serve as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging us all to stand up, take action, and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
