We are very excited to welcome Dixie Harris to our Board of Directors.
Dixie has already been a great help on our Grants & Foundations team, and she has agreed to join the Board, a volunteer group giving overall guidance to Family Promise of Greater Wichita.
Dixie cares deeply about people. She has worked with numerous homeless ministries in the Wichita area and was on the Board of Directors at Goodwill Industries of Kansas for 3 years.
An avid traveler, Dixie tries to take 1 international trip per year and 1-2 domestic trips. This June, she will be going on a missions trip to Austria to serve at the TCM (Taking Christ to Millions) Training Center in Austria (www.TCMI.org).
Dixie loves to garden and to walk. She participated in the 3 day, 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer in Minneapolis a few years ago.
After 23 years in IT work, Dixie retired 2 years ago from Cargill. She has lived in Kansas all her life, except for 4 years in Minneapolis with Cargill.
She has 2 sons and 3 grandsons,1 great grandson and lots of nieces and nephews, all of them in Kansas.
About her favorite part of this volunteer role, Dixie says, “The thing I like most about Family Promise is being a part of an organization that helps families In need have the opportunity for a new start. I love the idea of being the hands and feet of Jesus and coming along side those who are in need. I love the idea of investing in something that makes a lasting change.”
