We are very pleased to welcome another new member to our Board of Directors — Erik Houghton!

Erik is an attorney for the City, is involved in a number of community activities, and has a passion to see our guest families succeed.

A Wichita native, Erik graduated from Wichita State University in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, and then went on to law school at the University of Tulsa College of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctorate in 1999.

He also received certificates in Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Law from the University of Tulsa College of Law. While attending law school, Erik spent a summer semester abroad studying law in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After practicing law in Oklahoma for over 15 years, he moved back in 2016 to work for the City of Wichita. Erik has several years of experience as a litigation attorney with first-chair trial experience in multiple jury trials in civil court.

Erik has also worked as an in-house attorney for a major insurance company, with experience in insurance law, contract issues, and business/corporate law.

Erik is married and has two wonderful boys ages 3 and 8. He and his wife Michelle are very involved in their church, West Evangelical Free, leading classes and Bible studies.

Erik is excited to help the community through the Family Promise Board. And we are excited to have his skills and compassion onboard. Welcome Erik!

Family Promise of Greater Wichita unites hearts and hands to provide compassionate hospitality and empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
