At Family Promise of Greater Wichita, we know that every helping hand matters – and that building community includes honoring the wisdom, talents, and experiences of all. That’s why we’re so grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Workforce Center of Kansas and their Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) – a federal program that connects older adults with meaningful part-time community service work in nonprofit settings.
This fall, we welcomed Christine (Chris) Wells to our team through SCSEP – and it didn’t take long for her to become a steady, encouraging presence in our Day House.
Chris brings with her a wealth of experience in health services, administrative support, and customer service. With a background in nutrition education, health information technology, graphic design, and adult literacy support, she has spent her career helping others in practical, compassionate ways. Now, she’s applying those same skills and values to support our staff and families – offering administrative support, helping with projects, and jumping in wherever she’s needed with kindness and care.
Her time management, professionalism, and love for lifelong learning are evident in everything she does – from keeping things running behind the front desk to sharing ideas rooted in her ongoing education in digital media and graphic design at Butler Community College.
Plus, her amazing baked goods have already been a huge blessing to staff, volunteers, and families alike!
“Family Promise is thrilled to partner with the Workforce Center in bringing Chris Wells to the Family Promise team. Chris joined our team at just the right time and has been exactly what we needed – reliable, steady, and a calm, consistent presence whose behind-the-scenes work makes a meaningful difference every day.” – Adam Monaghan, FPGW Operations Manager
We’re thankful to the Workforce Center of Kansas for their support and for recognizing the value that older adults bring to our workforce and mission. And we’re especially grateful for Chris – whose quiet consistency, creativity, and warm presence have made a lasting impact in just a few short months.
