Family Promise of Greater Wichita is proud to welcome Stephenie Higgins to the FPGW Board of Directors team!
Stephenie, a community volunteer who is also a Graduate of Family Promise programs, brings a valuable perspective and a heart for helping grow the Family Promise mission in our community to reach as many families as possible in the best ways.
Ms. Higgins is a hard worker who stays busy and is driven by her desire to not only establish a brighter future for her family, but for the community at large. Stephenie joins the Board with perspective and experience that give even more weight to her exciting ideas for how the mission of Family Promise can grow and serve families well in the future.
Stephenie is excited to work closely with FPGW Executive Director Dawn Epp, and Carrie Corliss, two of the core people she credits with changing her life for the better. She says that Family Promise has given her a calling and she is excited to serve. She holds her new Board Member name tag as one of her most treasured possessions and wears it with pride.
As part of the Board of Directors, Stephenie has already made a huge impact with her voice and presence in meetings, events, and community discussions. Her next big task will be creating and leading a Graduate Advisory Council, made up of Graduates of Family Promise programs and lending leadership and guidance for FPGW programming and organizational decisions.
“Adding Stephenie to the board fulfilled a big dream we have had for years. Her life experience adds such an important perspective to the board that has been missing. Her feedback has been invaluable to us.”- FPGW Board President, Connor Cross
“It is impossible to have a conversation with Stephenie and not be excited about the mission of Family Promise. She is going to play an integral part in the future of this organization. I am so excited to be working alongside her.” – FPGW Executive Director, Dawn Epp
As a mother of three, Stephenie is no stranger to oversight, organization, hard work, and being a member of an important team. She credits Family Promise with a lot of the woman she is today.
“I would not be who I am or where I am without Family Promise. I want to impact someone the way that I was impacted. I have never in my life been impacted by someone like the way that I was with Family Promise. Not before and not after and I don’t think I’ll ever come close. I had lost my faith in humanity and Family Promise restored that for me.”
Stephenie’s family was the 7th to graduate from Family Promise of Greater Wichita and she loves to point out the picture of her graduation cake on the infamous “Cake Wall” at the Day House. She points to the work of Family Promise as “not a bandaid and not a quick fix. You all are a lifelong plan.”
Stephenie’s three boys keep her busy and she loves to spend time with them and with her boyfriend. She loves connecting with people throughout the community and doing everything she can to make people’s days and lives brighter.
Welcome to the FPGW Board, Stephenie! We are grateful for your leadership and partnership!
