Thanks to the kind support of donors and volunteers, we have remodeled and moved into our NEW Day House space, Family Promise at St. John’s!
This space at 401 N. Emporia is generously provided by St. John’s Episcopal Church and allows us to empower more families in a homeless crisis to get back into a home of their own. We celebrated with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Friday, November 22.
While guest families stay overnight in rotating faith congregations, the Day House is our central activity hub, where families participate in case management with our staff, leave for school and work each morning, shower, do laundry, and work on program goals.
This new space allows us to serve up to 8 families at once, empowering more friends to move from a homeless circumstance into hope and a home of their own. We’re looking forward to all we can accomplish together in this new space!
Family Promise of Greater Wichita opened in October 2016 and brings together community groups and faith congregations to provide shelter to homeless families with children, plus an intensive case management program to work towards sustainable independence. Since over 2500 children are homeless each year in Greater Wichita, this program meets a big need. Families are hosted overnight in a rotating group of faith congregations. Over 45 local congregations are involved.
Family Promise of Greater Wichita unites hearts and hands to provide compassionate hospitality and empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
