We are grateful for our continued growth and the addition of Tanya Chalfant as a Part-Time Case Manager to our staff at Family Promise of Greater Wichita. Please help us welcome her!
Tanya is a promoter of positive community growth, and a lover of fresh air, art, and loud music (believes The Police is the best 3 man band).
Tanya has been a native Kansan for most of her life, spending her first 9 years in the Chaco in Paraguay while her family was assigned there with Mennonite Central Committee. She attended Hesston College after high school and moved on to Emporia State University to complete degrees in Art and Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy.
She married Jeremy in 2000 and moved to Newton, Kan. Soon after, she began working at Prairie View Inc., in the hospital on the residential unit with adolescents, and then moving on to the community support program as a case manager.
At the end of 2007, Tanya and her motley crew moved to Wichita for the big city living! Her joys are her time with the family involved in soccer, music, volunteering, church activities, school activities and all things that four boys do — loud, louder and loudest. 😉
In her spare time, Tanya became involved with our local Wichita Circles Network as a volunteer preparing weekly meals. After getting to know the program and families, she joined the Circles staff Part-Time in April 2016 as a site coach. She will maintain this role as well as the new responsibilities she is taking on with Family Promise.
Tanya enjoys traveling with her family and looks forward to Final Fridays and time with family and friends. She hopes to someday fill her passport with a trip to all 6 continents — yes, there are 7, but seriously, who wants to relax on an ice block while on a vacation?
Tanya says, “I am excited to begin working alongside families with the Family Promise team.”
What a joy to have Tanya’s heart and talents on our team!
Family Promise of Greater Wichita unites hearts and hands to provide compassionate hospitality and empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
