We’re moving! We are very pleased to announce a ministry partnership with St John’s Episcopal Church for the use of a space near their church building, Family Promise Day House at St. John’s.
Since we are finding that we have outgrown our current space, this will allow us to complete our expansion goal of serving up to 8 families at a time in the Rotation Program.
After some repairs and remodeling, we expect to move this coming Fall.
Our current Day House, provided by Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, has served us very well for our first two years — thank you to all our Lorraine Avenue friends, and numerous volunteers who repaired and cared for the house, for your support!
What is a Day House?
The Day House is a key piece of the Family Promise program. No matter where we move, it is always the consistent location for guest families to store belongings, take showers, do laundry, use as a home address, and depart for school and work each morning. This is an important part of stability we can offer to families.
This space also houses our staff offices and case management for guests to work on goals, resumes, job searches if needed, and life skills classes. Staff and volunteers handle the administration of all program logistics from these offices as well.
In addition to adding space, the new location downtown will allow families to be closer to other social service agencies as well as public transportation.
Next Steps: You Can Help!
The next step in the new space: we’re looking forward to some remodeling projects over the next few months and will be asking for your support and expertise! Please watch our Facebook page for these needs and pitch in on our workdays.
As for the old Day House, so much love and compassion and learning together has happened there. What a blessing. We continue to look at ways it could be used to benefit families in other ways in the future.
Thanks to St. John’s, and as always, to our generous community and to God for providing for all our needs, more than we could even think to ask.
