Family Promise of Greater Wichita is excited to welcome Kate Faris to our Development & Community Engagement team as the new Network Support Coordinator – a newly defined role that beautifully bridges volunteer support, church partnership care, and the behind-the-scenes coordination that keeps our shelter network running with excellence.

Kate comes to Family Promise with an impressive mix of professional expertise, strong administrative skills, and a heart for the community.

Before joining our team, Kate spent more than six years at Spirit AeroSystems as a Staff Analyst and QMS Administrator. Her work there included:

  • Leading cross-functional projects and process improvements
  • Facilitating compliance initiatives
  • Documenting procedures, training teams, and improving internal systems
  • Supporting leaders while coordinating logistics across multiple areas

In other words:
Kate knows how to build systems, support people, solve problems, and keep a lot of moving pieces running smoothly. Exactly the skills required to support our volunteer network and partner congregations.

Her background also includes experience in school administration and office management – roles that strengthened her communication, organization, and ability to create order and care in busy, people-focused environments.

Beyond her resume, Kate brings warmth, approachability, and a genuine passion for serving families and volunteers in ways that align beautifully with the core values of Family Promise.

As Network Support Coordinator, Kate will:

  • Support host and support congregations across the community
  • Ensure volunteers feel prepared, encouraged, and valued
  • Help manage scheduling, communication, and coordination across the network
  • Strengthen consistency and hospitality in host weeks
  • Build meaningful relationships with coordinators and church teams

It’s a role that blends logistics and care – two areas where Kate thrives.

“Kate has already been such a joy to have on our team. Her thoughtful approach, steady presence, and ability to jump right into complex processes make her an incredible addition to our Community Engagement efforts. She understands people, she understands systems, and she cares deeply about creating a smooth, supportive experience for our volunteers and congregations and understands how that translates to the support families receive when they come to Family Promise. We could not be more excited to have her on board.” – Beth Schafers, FPGW Director of Development & Community Engagement

Family Promise’s model works because the community shows up – night after night, meal after meal, family after family.

With our growing mission, our volunteer network has never been more essential. Kate’s role and her skill-set and approach to this work help ensure volunteers are empowered, equipped, and supported so they can continue offering the dignity-filled hospitality that changes lives.

Please help us celebrate and welcome Kate Faris to the Family Promise family. Big things are ahead and we’re grateful to have Kate helping lead the way.
