Taking the old and giving it life again seems to be at the heart of most of life for Logan and Brittney Frederick. These kind-hearted community members are passionate about building a beautiful life for their family and for others, including Family Promise families.
Brittney and Logan first met when in college at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. While in school there, they found themselves in a partnership, selling used books together. This venture would prove a precursor to their long term relationship.
Now married with two beautiful children, Brittney and Logan have settled in Wichita and are the owners and operators of “Birdie in the Attic.” Through this online found/restored furniture boutique, the Fredericks put together their love for entrepreneurship, decor, frugalness, and hard work.
While this business started as a “side hustle” for Brittney to be able to help support their family by staying at home with their children, it has blossomed into a full time job for both parents, allowing Logan to leave his corporate law job and work from home with his family. Spending any time in their warm, welcoming home will give you a quick glimpse of a peaceful family that works hard and serves and rests well.
As members of Family Promise partner congregation West Ridge Community Church, Brittney and Logan had heard about the Family Promise mission. When Brittney mentioned to FPGW Board Member Deb Shirkey that she wanted to potentially start volunteering, Deb invited her along to help provide and share a meal with guests staying at their church. Brittney loved serving and connecting with Family Promise families and started dreaming with Logan about other ways they could support and serve.
Over the past year, the Fredericks and “Birdie in the Attic” have not only donated beautiful pieces for use in Gala auctions, but they’ve also contributed pieces to FPGW Graduate families as well. These restored or found pieces have been a gift in bringing beauty and function to families’ homes and offering a little bit of extra dignity as they step into sustainable independence.
As Logan and Brittney find new ways to volunteer and engage in the mission of Family Promise in our community, the FPGW team is grateful for passionate partners like them. These friends of Family Promise make it evident that we can all use our gifts, passions, and time to make a significant difference for families in creative ways!
