Family Promise is a network of over 200 affiliates nationwide, working to transform communities by providing services to homeless children and their families.

Locally, there are over 2500 homeless children in the Greater Wichita area. Family Promise of Greater Wichita combines 46 faith communities and local resources to provide lodging/hospitality, a Day House as a central daily hub, and intensive case management to support each family’s personal goals to achieve a new sustainable life.

2018 statistics from the Family Promise of Greater Wichita program:

  • 46 faith congregations are involved, either hosting overnight or providing meals, volunteers, and supplies
  • 20 families were served
  • 58% of people served were children
  • 71% of families achieved housing in an average of eleven weeks

Family Promise of Greater Wichita opened in October 2016 to serve families in a homeless circumstance, hosted overnight in the facilities of a rotating group of faith congregations. The program expanded in November 2018 and will double family capacity in 2019.
