Family Promise of Greater Wichita is delighted to welcome Beth Schafers as the newest addition to the staff team as Director of Development and Community Engagement.
Beth has previously worked with the FPGW team as an active volunteer and a member of the Board of Directors. Her work as a Day House and congregational volunteer, as well as time spent as Board Secretary and Communications Chair, has grown her passion and belief in the mission of Family Promise. She is excited to join this effort in a larger capacity and to help fuel the work and engagement of the incredible FPGW community.
In 2021, Family Promise of Greater Wichita was able to serve twice as many individuals as the prior year. As our services have expanded to include more opportunities to impact local families, and as we look to serve even more families in 2022, Beth joins the FPGW team eager to expand the mission of Family Promise in our community through a growing network of partners and advocates.
“We are thrilled to have Beth join the staff team,” said FPGW Executive Director, Dawn Epp. “She is passionate about our mission and already has a wonderful working relationship with our staff, volunteers, and board. With this new role at FPGW, we are excited to see the awareness that Beth will bring to our community about the work that we are doing for families in Wichita.”
With vast experience working and volunteering with ministries and social service agencies, Beth brings a heart and mindset for being a catalyst for positive change in the community. Her favorite quote, from Andrew Carnegie, sums up her attitude about her work – “Do real and permanent good.” In her first days as a member of the staff, she has been deeply moved by the passion and commitment of the team, as well as the enthusiastic feedback from guests, and has been boosted by a firm sense that her new role will enable others at Family Promise to do even more good and impactful work.
As a born and raised Kansan who has only ever lived in two neighboring counties, Beth’s love for this community is deeply rooted and her desire to make a positive impact for her neighbors is what drives her energetic and thoughtful work. Most recently, Beth served as a school secretary with Goddard Public Schools, where she cherished the daily impact she was able to have on hundreds of students, staff, and their families (as well as more time spent with her own). She is thrilled to be taking on a new role that can serve even more children and families in Greater Wichita.
Beth enjoys living in the Wichita community with her husband and two children and looks for ways to regularly explore more of their city and state. She is a firm believer that Kansas is not boring and has a great time planning day trips and experiencing all that this great place has to offer. When they are not adventuring, she enjoys baking, reading, and carving out lots of time to enjoy laughing with her family and growing in her personal mission to live with no agenda but love.
