We’re thrilled to introduce the newest member of the Family Promise of Greater Wichita team: Sobenna Worrill, who recently joined the staff team as our new Community Engagement Coordinator!
This role – newly expanded and deeply rooted in our mission – focuses on building strong volunteer relationships, coordinating logistics for family-centered and community events, and connecting our broader community to the heartbeat of our work with families. It requires a unique blend of warmth, precision, flexibility, and strategic thinking – and Sobenna brings all of that and more. She jumped in amidst the holiday season without fear and with great enthusiasm!
A seasoned nonprofit professional, Sobenna has worn many hats throughout her career. She has directed large-scale community events, secured grants, and led wellness and youth empowerment initiatives.. Most recently, she served as the Managing Director of the Mayfair Arts Center, overseeing operations, grant compliance, and construction projects – while also serving as the founder of Chi-Village, a nonprofit creating intergenerational programs rooted in wellness and cultural expression.
Sobenna’s background in program development, event planning, and community engagement – paired with her creative spirit and passion for healthy and thriving communities – makes her an incredible addition to the FPGW team. From her first weeks with us, she has jumped in with energy, fresh ideas, and a genuine excitement for connecting people to meaningful work.
“We’re so excited to have Sobenna on the team,” says Beth Schafers, Director of Development & Community Engagement.
“She’s already breathing fresh air into the day-to-day happenings at Family Promise. Whether it’s organizing volunteers or helping bring a family event to life, she’s diving in with confidence, initiative, and care for details and people. We are thrilled to have her as a part of our team and mission.”
Please join us in welcoming Sobenna to the Family Promise family!
