Family Promise of Greater Wichita Plans Transformational Scaling of Services for Families Facing Homelessness
WICHITA, KS – Family Promise of Greater Wichita (FPGW), a local organization that works to empower families to overcome housing insecurity, announced today a major expansion of its work. Over the next two years, FPGW will scale its work in preventing homelessness, offering stabilization services to families, and increasing access to affordable housing units with the goal of supporting an additional 600 plus families.
Founded on a relationship-driven model and supported by deep community partnerships, FPGW provides comprehensive support at every stage of housing insecurity. From early prevention to emergency shelter and long-term stabilization, the organization’s unique, holistic approach helps build a reality where families are both housed and empowered on their journey to sustainable independence.
The initial expansion is made possible by $1 million in grants from Stand Together Foundation, dedicated to empowering individuals to reach their full potential through community-driven change, and Chase Koch Foundation, committed to scaling bold ideas that help people break barriers and transform their lives.
The funding will help fill significant gaps in services for families, but the need for community support remains great.
“This investment is a powerful affirmation of the work we’ve been doing – and the work still ahead of us,” said Family Promise of Greater Wichita Executive Director Dawn Epp. “It allows us to scale thoughtfully and meet more families with the care and support they deserve. We’re not just growing our capacity, we’re deepening our promise to walk alongside families toward lasting stability.”
Stand Together Foundation and Chase Koch Foundation are excited to partner with FPGW and other local social entrepreneurs who are committed to transforming Wichita with community-led solutions that eliminate barriers. FPGW has a proven model of empowerment which successfully stabilizes vulnerable families with a high success rate of housing stability two years after program participation.
“Family Promise of Greater Wichita is a powerful example of what it means to move upstream of some of the biggest challenges facing our city,” said Stand Together Foundation Director Joe Woodward. “Their work is part of a broader movement in Wichita to support children and families. By providing families with essential resources and supportive relationships, Family Promise’s proven model not only keeps families together, but helps them thrive.”
In the coming months, FPGW will be growing their ongoing efforts through additional community partnerships, landlord relationships, and other support. If you are interested in learning more or are ready to help expand services for families experiencing homelessness, enabling them to find stability and a brighter future together, the FPGW team would love to hear from you.
