Here’s a glimpse at what happens when a new family joins our program:
📝 While (and before) families complete paperwork with their Family Advocate, Jaraya, our entire team is hard at work behind the scenes:
🎁 We provide a welcome kit stocked with basic hygiene items, pillows, blankets, towels, and diapers to ensure immediate needs are met.
📚 Melanie reviews our Welcome Binder, offering crucial information on partner congregations, WiFi, door codes, and our mission, vision, and values. Families also receive essential case management documents and access to our Core Values Store.
🚪 Lesly gives a personalized tour of the FPGW building, helping Guests test codes and navigate our facility, while introducing the new family to other Guests, volunteers, and staff, and helping familiarize them with our chore checks and extra supplies.
🛌 Faith Congregation partners are hard at work setting up rooms and preparing evening meals to make sure that a Guest’s first evening in Rotation is one of welcome and community.
📋 With organized processes, policies, and documents in place, we strive to create a structured environment that makes sense for families, empowering them to help themselves.
💬 Our team members share their goals for welcoming a new family to FPGW:
- Jaraya wants to create a welcoming environment where families feel supported and empowered to focus on long-term housing solutions – one where Guests feel open to communicate barriers while striving to strengthen their family and “build their toolbox” for long term stability.
- Lesly highlights our structured, holistic approach, aiming to turn our program’s differences into advantages for families to be able to work hard and help themselves through a proven, successful process.
- Melanie is focused on empowerment, encouraging families to realize their own strength and potential and work the program so that they can be successful. Her heart is to provide a space that makes families feel welcome and does not come across as too institutional.
- Dawn strives to ensure that families feel welcomed, not judged, and are provided with clear expectations and an understanding of our program. She loves to know that families have the opportunity to meet the team of staff and volunteers to ensure positive interactions during a Guest’s time in program.
