With excitement, Family Promise of Greater Wichita (FPGW) and the Wichita Family Crisis Center (WFCC) announce a building acquisition that stands as a mutually beneficial step of growth for both organizations and the families they serve.

As each of these two local organizations have experienced exponential growth in recent years, the need for new and expanded space has been apparent. At the end of an exciting capital campaign and relocation to a new building, the Wichita Family Crisis Center recently listed their previous building for sale. The WFCC building came on the market at the same time that Family Promise was in the process of researching what a potential future space might entail.

The building at 1111 N St. Francis was a surprisingly fitting solution for Family Promise’s needs. As a previous family shelter space, it had the unique features required for Family Promise shelter and operation needs. Thanks to enthusiastic community support, Family Promise completed the purchase of this building last week and is excited to move operations fully into the space later this year.

“We are so excited to acquire this building which is in a great location and is a perfect fit for the families we serve.  We are so thankful for WFCC and the care that they took of their building and we are honored to continue to carry on their heart and continue to serve vulnerable families in the Wichita community.”

FPGW Executive Director, Dawn Epp

With this property sale between two local nonprofits that both provide crucial support to families facing crisis situations, this strategic move not only reinforces the missions of these organizations, but also sets an inspiring tone for community-driven collaboration and support among social service agencies.

The synergy between Family Promise and the Crisis Center is evident in the alignment of their missions and the populations that they serve. Both organizations are dedicated to preserving the well-being and dignity of individuals and families during times of vulnerability. The transfer of this building not only bolsters Family Promise’s space for growth and impact, but supports the funding of the Crisis Center’s vital programs and mission in our community.

“We are grateful that our former facility will be utilized by another nonprofit that empowers families and that the proceeds from the sale will go toward saving the lives of mothers and children in our community.”

WFCC Executive Director, Amanda Myers

The collaborative spirit of Family Promise and the Crisis Center extends to the broader community as well. These two organizations invite local businesses, volunteers, and supporters to join hands in envisioning a brighter future for families in the Greater Wichita community.
