We are excited to welcome our new AmeriCorps VISTA staff member, ShaiLyn! AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) serve directly with organizations that are working to eradicate poverty to help address our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions. ShaiLyn will serve as our Graduate and Community Coordinator for the next year.
ShaiLyn is Wichita born-and-raised and loves our Wichita community! She is a graduate of East High and will finish her bachelor’s in Social Work at Wichita State University this coming Spring. She plans to then pursue her master’s in Social Work and a career working with children and adolescents.
ShaiLyn’s passion for serving others is evident from the moment you meet her and we are excited to have her strong spirit and care for others on our Family Promise team! She is quickly digging into the day-to-day work of our staff and is excited to work with our families.
Growing up just a few minutes away from where our Day House is located has sparked a connection for ShaiLyn that has led to a quick love for Family Promise. She points out that she loves the mission, the goal, and the purpose found here, as well as the structured program aimed at helping families find long term stability. The diverse network of faith communities teaming up to support the cause is one of her favorite things about Family Promise.
We look forward to the year ahead and all that we will accomplish with ShaiLyn on our team!
