Dear Family Promise of Greater Wichita Family, Thank you for your patience and your ongoing support in this time of COVID-19, as we have suspended our regular Rotation Program and had families shelter in place while they continue with their goals and towards permanent housing options. We know that many of you are eager to begin engaging with families again. Here is our plan for re-opening the Rotation Program. With so many congregations with vast differences in volunteer pools and in your own re-opening plans, FPGW Leadership has worked hard to listen and discern how and when to move forward for the sake of homeless and at-risk families in our community, realizing that no matter when we start the process, there will be unforeseen challenges to overcome along with the joys and celebrations. So, as always, flexibility will continue to be key. We will re-open the Congregational Rotation slowly, navigating obstacles before moving on to the next step. – We will start with only one host facility each week. – All Host & Support Congregations scheduled for the week will work together to provide on-site volunteer support (in designated area(s)), shelter and meals with no or limited direct volunteer interaction. – We recognize that working together with other congregations will be new for some, so we will provide ‘best – practices” for collaboration with congregations during the Host week. – Also, training on new protocols for volunteers will be provided, so be on the lookout for this resource in the coming weeks. – We will also re-open with only one family, and we will take time to navigate obstacles before adding more families to the Rotation. – While we slowly re-open the Rotation Program, our staff will continue to provide graduates and at-risk families with Homeless Prevention / Diversion / Stabilization services to stabilize struggling families. You will continue to hear about opportunities to support these families as well. Timeline: July 5, 2020, we will move toward Phase One of Re-opening the Rotation. The Host and Support Congregations scheduled for that week are willing and ready to do their part to get started with this new plan — thank you! Thank you again for your continued support and flexibility as we move forward together!Sincerely and with much hope, The FPGW Board & Staff #hopechangesthestory Family Promise of Greater Wichita unites hearts and hands to provide compassionate hospitality and empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. |
