We have an incredibly generous community. We knew this, but the evidence keeps stacking up as we see some huge new transportation gifts for families this summer.

As you have probably noticed, we talk about vans and driving a LOT. This is because we use them every single day. Guest parents and children ride in the 15-passenger van to their designated Host Congregation each evening, and they return the next morning.

We use the trailers every week, when volunteers transport the cots from one Congregation to the next. PLUS these double as a bonus when we haul furniture to help each graduate family set up a new home.

We also use our vehicles for occasional rides to job interviews, family outings, and other miscellaneous program errands.

This means that reliable vehicles are KEY to our program.

Some well-loved vans have been generously donated in the past, and they were starting to wear out this year. Staff and volunteers spent a lot of time on maintenance needs and ensuring the safety of our families.

We also had just one trailer for Rotation 1 of Hosting Congregations, while Rotation 2 used the van for transporting cots when families were not in it.

So you can imagine what a HUGE gift these exciting events have been:

  • First Mennonite Brethren Church gave us a NEW van in June. We can transport families daily in a MUCH more reliable vehicle! THANK YOU First MB, for so deeply and literally buying in to our mission together.
  • West Ridge Community Church took on the task of researching, buying, and delivering a NEW trailer for Rotation 2! This is a great and useful tool for moving cots and furniture now twice as often. THANK YOU for taking ownership of this project and caring about the logistics.

We are constantly amazed at the talents, skills, and resources that show up when we need them. Thank you for being a part of this! And if you have an idea or skill you can contribute, please reach out and let us know. Everyone has a spot at Family Promise.
