We are excited to work with Janice Penner, the newest member to join our Board of Directors!
With a history of 38 years in the Wichita Public Schools as a teacher and librarian, Janice has a heart for children and has seen firsthand the effects that homelessness can have on families.
Janice serves as our liaison to Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, the generous congregation who allows us to use their facility as a Day House AND takes a turn as a Host Congregation quarterly — what a bunch of gifts to us and the community!
Janice first heard about Family Promise while serving on the Mission Board of Lorraine Ave Mennonite and is excited to join in this volunteer role with the Family Promise Board.
Janice recently began work as the Children’s Event Coordinator at Watermark Books — a good match for her love of books and all things literacy.
Janice has a large extended family and enjoys spending time with them as well as her husband, son and 2 granddaughters.
She says, “Micah 6:8 has been an inspirational verse for me: ‘He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.'”
