In case you don’t know, we have some heroes behind the scenes.
Most of these friends will not publicize their service, but they are the picture of generosity. I have no idea if they all give financially (probably yes), but their generosity of TIME is an openness with life that is rare and inspiring.
These people demonstrate their belief in empowering families to make new paths every day.
Just in the past month, volunteer advocates have stepped in and shown with their time and their lives how important this work is. Here are a few samples of what they have been up to in doing life WITH our guest families.
- Came right away when a guest needed a last-minute ride to a job interview.
- Met with graduates to provide budget coaching.
- Prepared and presented Parenting skills classes weekly to our guest parents.
- Picked up furniture. Stored furniture. Delivered furniture. All to help graduates get a good start in new homes.
- Meticulously reviewed data to make sure our database information is correct.
- Stopped by when it wasn’t her assigned volunteer time, just to talk with and encourage a new guest.
- Traded time at a party to drive to and sit with a guest mom and small child at urgent care.
- Met twice a week for a YEAR with graduates who are working on GED testing prep.
Can you believe how great our extended FPGW family is?
You think this sounds made up. Every single one of those stories is true. It is incredible.
