Do you wonder what happens when someone donates a car to our program? And who takes care of them?

Our Keys for Success initiative is a way to support our program AND empower individual families.

Donated cars go in one of these directions:

1. Use as a program vehicle, to transport guests to work, school, and daycare while they develop their own transportation plans (note: life in Wichita is HARD without a car and public transit doesn’t go everywhere at every time).

2. Use by approved guests to check out and accomplish some of the above tasks on their own, as a step towards independence.

3. Use by approved graduates who may earn ownership by continuing aftercare/mentoring with us, achieving case management goals, and donating Pay-it-forward miles (rides given to other guests and graduates). After one year of aftercare and with hard work to complete program agreements, we transfer ownership of the vehicle to the family who has earned it.

If we cannot use a vehicle, it may be sold to support repairs on current cars and our other programs.

This initiative is a fantastic way to walk with families who are moving from homelessness to sustainable independence.

THANK YOU to the generous friends who have donated so far!

Because of you, young parents can fit their children and car seats safely in one vehicle.

Because of you, another family gives rides to current guests if they have to work late or need to go to an appointment.

Because of you, a single mom gets her children to day care and herself to school every day, for the purpose of making a better life for her family.

We have a spot for you!

If you would like to explore vehicle donation, call us: 316-977-7026.

You can also volunteer as a daytime driver to transport guests to job interviews and other essential needs.

And if you can help out on the Transportation Team, volunteers are needed for handling:

  • vehicle assessments and repairs
  • program agreements & organization
  • transportation grants for funding
  • and much more.

Our Team Meeting is coming up March 8. Call us for details and to learn more about any of these! 316-977-7026.

We’re looking forward to handing over more and more keys to hard-working families who are starting new lives.
